Don't Just Take Our Word For It!
"Kathy Mills Chang has been a part of my professional life for over 15 years. She was my office manager for over three years, during which time the efficiency in my office was the best it's been in my 21+ years of practice. Since she left my office after a family move to New York, I've continued to use Kathy's expertise. Without fail, whenever I've had a difficult situation to resolve, she has been able to quickly and correctly diagnose the administrative or insurance issue. Her corrections and training have always been very practical and appropriate. Without hesitation, knowing first hand her character and integrity, I have no hesitation in highly recommending Kathy and her services to anyone in the chiropractic profession." Click Here to Download Q: When an insurance company contacts us to get progress on a patient is there a way that we could verify that the phone call is actually legit? Are we allowed to answer these types of questions without a written request for them? We obviously get these phone calls all the time and we want to make sure that we are not violating HIPAA guidelines by returning phone calls without having a written request for the patient's information.
A: What a great question! I think it's reasonable to use HIPAA as a reason you don't give that info out over the phone. Tell the adjuster that due to HIPAA you request that they send you a request in writing and give them your email or fax address, and then return that info via fax or mail. more coding Q&A... more medicare Q&A... more insurance Q&A...
