New Patient Financial Procedures

Most often, poor financial results stem from poor financial planning. Getting the financial ball rolling from before the very first visit with a new patient is essential so that everything that follows will be orderly and efficient.  Leaving this important process to chance could be why there are challenges in your practice such as finding out that patients don’t have coverage after care has begun and the patient’s financial expectations have not been realized.  Good communication in this area will impact your ability to have your patients stay, pay and refer others. 

  • Initial procedures in dealing with new patients’ financial data will be analyzed.  A complete review of your new patient phone financial data collection together with a review of your existing new patient data collection forms will be completed.  Where necessary, this service includes review and training of new patient sample phone scripts. 
  • This service also includes review of any existing patient financial office policy  forms.  If none exist, one will be developed for you, trained in, and will include a script for explaining it to the patient. 
  • Insurance verification procedures will be reviewed, including collecting the crucial insurance information.  This service includes a review of existing insurance verification forms.  Where necessary, instruction is delivered on completing the insurance verification form, together with supplying a new verification form if needed. This will include verification of commercial insurance, in-network and out of network benefits, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and Medicare coverage.  Scripts and training are also included.
  • Complete analysis of existing patient financial counseling procedures and agreements.  Includes analysis of existing programs for compliance, together with recommendations, training and financial options for both third party and cash paying patients.  Training and scripting provided for financial consultations with patients along with necessary forms and procedures to assure compliance.
